The rape-silencing orchestra is heading to Salzburg Orchestrasnorman lebrecht January 29, 2026A Canadian organisation that slapped legal handcuffs on one of its violinists, stopping her from revealing her rape by a colleague, has now been invited to the uber-prestigious Salzburg Easter Festival. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will be taking its first European trip. It is due to play at Salzburg’s Großes Festspielhaus on April 15-17. As well as works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Barber, the VSO will perform Canadian composer Samy Moussa’s work, Adgilis Deda – Hymn for Orchestra. Following an international outcry earlier this month, the VSO announced it would no longer stop musicians from speaking out about rape.
