The House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee is inviting submissions to a new inquiry into the growth and proposed regulation of stablecoins in the UK.
It is also asking how the sterling-denominated stablecoin market in the UK is expected to develop, and who uses stablecoins and for what purposes.
The Lords will also examine whether there are any existing regulatory rules that are impacting the growth of stablecoins in the UK.
The committee also wants to explore whether the growth of stablecoins could disrupt the conduct of monetary policy and traditional financial intermediaries.
The inquiry will also assess what implications the BoE’s and FCA’s proposed regulatory regimes could have for the adoption and growth of systemic and non-systemic stablecoins in the UK and internationally.
