Export revenue climbed sharply through 2025, reaching an estimated US$11.7 billion, with refrigerated cargo (aka reefer cargo) playing a central role. ADVERTISEMENTMSC South Africa’s national export commercial executive, Zane Godwin, said the company recorded a new high in reefer volumes last year. According to Godwin, the figures reflect strong global demand and growing confidence in South Africa’s export capabilities. The recently launched Western Cape Express strengthens links between South Africa, North West Europe and West Africa, particularly during peak fruit seasons. Launched in late 2025, it connects South Africa directly to key North American ports, including New York, Baltimore and Savannah.
