Greece is set to strengthen its fight against tax evasion and smuggling with the introduction of artificial intelligence tools and digital monitoring systems, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) announced.
The initiative aims to enhance transparency, improve compliance, and expand fiscal space for potential tax relief measures in 2026.
At the core of the reforms is a real-time monitoring system for cash register transactions, allowing AADE to track business activity and automatically transmit data to the myDATA platform, closing loopholes that previously allowed revenue concealment.
By May, the second phase of electronic dispatch note submissions will also become compulsory, extending the digital oversight to more sectors.
AADE will also introduce a group taxation framework for domestic corporate groups, allowing consolidated tax filings to simplify compliance, ensure predictability, and strengthen financial stability.
