The Greek government has introduced permanent benefits for parents of three children in public sector hiring, a move expected to impact hundreds of thousands of families across the country. Under Article 14 of Law 5270/2026, amendments to the existing public employment framework now grant lifelong recognition of the “three-child parent” status. A parent is considered a three-child parent if they have three children through marriage, cohabitation, adoption, or legal recognition. Importantly, for mothers, the status applies regardless of whether the children were born within or outside of marriage. The measure has been welcomed as a significant step in supporting large families in Greece, providing both recognition and tangible advantages in state employment opportunities.
