West Clare demands immediate Government action in relation to crime in the region. That’s according to Aontú Clare representative June Dillon who has described the alleged assault and robbery of a postmistress in Carrigaholt on Wednesday of last week as “brutal” and “disturbing”. Her comments come following this and another incident in West Clare this week when a security alert occurred at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg which saw the army’s bomb disposal unit deployed. Ms Dillon has expressed her deep outrage and grave concern at both incidents, saying “these are not scenes from a crime drama, this is rural West Clare in 2026”.
