According to a leak from Smart Pikachu on Weibo, Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro camera has hit late-stage engineering samples with variable aperture. Ming-Chi Kuo first mentioned variable aperture for the iPhone 18 Pro back in December 2024. The iPhone 18 Pro design is probably locked in at this point, but Apple keeps testing specific camera features right up until production. Worth noting that variable aperture was rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro too, and that didn’t happen. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to launch in September 2026.
