Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has held a high-level bilateral meeting with the Turkish Minister for Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş to kick-start implementation of agreements on Family cohesion and social welfare strengthening. The discussions came after months of engagements that culminated in the historic signing of the agreement, signalling a new level of cooperation in the development of women and social welfare for national development. The synergising meeting followed a parallel ministerial bilateral engagement earlier held in Ankara by the Nigerian Minister of Women Affairs with her Turkish counterpart after the ceremonial signing of the agreement. The core provisions of the MoU include strengthening Families by facilitating Nigeria’s first National Action Plan on Families by year-end, with the Care Economy as a critical pillar to support family structures.
