The Development Research and Projects Centre, dRPC, a Nigerian indigenous non-profit organisation, has called on the Federal Government to develop a national framework for monitoring and evaluating humanitarian interventions across the country to ensure harmonisation and effective poverty reduction.
The call was contained in a memorandum submitted to the maiden edition of the National Council on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction held in Calabar on Thursday.
According to her, the proposed framework would harmonise indicators, goals, objectives, timelines and points of synergy between federal and sub-national governments, thereby improving the tracking of humanitarian and poverty reduction interventions nationwide.
Dr Walker noted that humanitarian and poverty reduction efforts currently vary widely from state to state, posing serious challenges to coordinated monitoring and evaluation of poverty reduction outcomes in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to restoring lives and lifting Nigerians out of poverty.
