'Exciting' apprenticeship scheme launched with several roles in North East

The scheme, which begins in September 2026, is offered by EDF Power Solutions UK and includes roles in wind energy, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technology, and business administration.
Piero Maggio, asset operations director at EDF Power Solutions UK, said: "We’re delighted to continue our apprenticeship scheme alongside the introduction of specialist areas like SCADA management business administration and, which offers a fantastic entry route into the high-growth renewables market.
Apprentices will begin with a five-day safety training course and will complete a series of placements at operational sites, followed by 12 to 18 months of full-time, on-the-job experience with EDF Power Solutions UK teams.
A business administration apprenticeship based in Durham and a SCADA technician role in Sunderland are also part of the scheme.
Stephanie Bouchard-Saliba, chief people officer at EDF Power Solutions UK, said: "This apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic opportunity for young people to start their careers in the renewable energy industry, gaining valuable skills in their area.
