Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke has outlined plans for more than £6 million in new spending, made possible through improved financial management and increased government funding. Mayor Cooke said: "This budget will help improve the look and feel of our town and boost the future life chances of children and young people. The plan also includes £500,000 for events and cultural programming across the town, alongside improvements to Middlesbrough’s museums. The budget also proposes £250,000 to extend funding for school holiday clubs into half-term weeks. "The investment we’re planning into everyday services for people of all ages, across all of Middlesbrough, is much needed.
