Some Ghana Premier League match officialsFormer Vice President of Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie, has voiced serious concerns about the quality of officiating in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League, warning that it threatens the credibility of the competition. “The Premier League started very well, and attendance increased at the various venues, but the allegations and poor officiating have soiled the integrity of the league, and it is worrying and concerning,” he stated. “I don’t want to rate the league, but what I will say is that those running the league must sit up and do the right thing. I think that the GFA should consider changing the Chairman or Chairperson of the Referees Management Committee as part of the solution to dealing with poor officiating,” Afriyie added. Despite the growing concerns surrounding officiating, the Ghana Premier League is expected to continue as planned, with Matchday 21 fixtures scheduled to be played at their respective venues across the country.
