Ferne Animal Sanctuary near Chard is urgently seeking support to replenish its hay stocks after extreme weather depleted its reserves. The sanctuary uses around 2,000 bales of hay each year but began using its supply as early as July due to poor grazing conditions. "This winter we have already used 1,000 bales and we need the additional 1,000 bales to take us through to the next harvest in late spring. Donations of clean, unused hay bales can also be delivered directly to the sanctuary at Wambrook, Chard, TA20 3DH. More information on Ferne Animal Sanctuary can be found at its website.
