The worker said a man, who appeared to be intoxicated, tried to steal from the store four times on one day this month. Sunglass Hut tell staff not to confront thieves, but the store has no specific security – relying on Westgate staff – and the worker said they do it because they have “pride” in their work. The Sunglass Hut worker said that thieves can take up to £2,000 worth of product with groups of teenagers and people on their own largely responsible. “The staff run after the thieves and get it back.”
