That’s the message from NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB), which is supporting Stroke Prevention Day on January 29 with a call for adults to get their blood pressure checked regularly. High blood pressure, known as the "silent killer," often has no symptoms and is one of the leading causes of stroke. "High blood pressure is completely treatable but the key to treatment is being aware and knowing what your blood pressure should be." Around five million adults aged 18 to 64 in the UK could be living with high blood pressure. The Stroke Association is urging people to check their blood pressure at home, at a pharmacy, or with their GP.
