Thomas Hill, 24, was followed by police into a Maldon business estate where they tried to pull him over.
Hill, of Peter Taylor Avenue, Braintree, admitted one charge each of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
Caroline Woodley, mitigating, said Hill could not explain why he drove off when police tried to stop him.
She said: “He has not really been able to explain why he decided to drive away from police.
He must also complete 25 rehabilitation days, and pay £110 in costs as well as a £154 victim surcharge.
