Four county councillors have confirmed they are standing down in protest at the delay of County Hall's elections until next year - and there is speculation more could join them. The government last week announced it will move legislation to suspend the election for all 84 councillors at County Hall and a third of councillors at Norwich City Council. Mr Connolly, who has represented Yare and All Saints since the 2018 death of former council leader Cliff Jordan, quit with immediate effect. The Lib Dems had opposed the election delay and group leader Brian Watkins said he still wants them to go ahead. She said some councillors might stand down because they had "exhausted their resources" or for "personal reasons".
