The Unlocking Thetford’s Potential grant, launched by the town council in May 2024 through a participatory budgeting process, has distributed £25,000 to community groups. A representative from Thetford Meet Up said: "The grant has helped support delivery of our free counselling service in collaboration with West Suffolk College. "Over the past year, our counsellors have conducted 39 weekly sessions, offering over 150 hours of mental health and wellbeing support. Thetford Town Cricket Club also received a £5,000 grant to boost their junior, women and girls cricket programme. Mick Piggott, club chairman, said: "Thank you kindly to Thetford Town Council for the grant, which has made a significant contribution."
