The West Raynham Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King’s Lynn is aiming to cycle 979 miles—the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats—on an adaptive exercise bike to help raise £10,000 for a specialist aphasia library. The bike, funded by a previous sponsored hike, is suitable for wheelchair users and supports the rehabilitation of stroke patients by improving mobility. John Syson, QEH's director of people, said: "It was great to be involved in launching the appeal with the team and experience the benefits of the new bike and what a difference it makes for stroke patients." Scott Ablett, senior physiotherapist, said: "By involving patients directly in our Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge, we hope to motivate them throughout their physiotherapy and encourage them to go a little further each time." The planned library will offer accessible reading materials to support cognitive and language recovery.
