The plans to demolish The Original Factory Shop at St Marys Road in Bungay and replace it with two flats, five cottages, and a new shop had been objected to by Bungay Town Council. Reasons for the objection included concerns over parking, over development and threats to employment, but developers have disputed these claims in an official rebuttal. "The town council states that the scheme will 'negatively affect the economic development of the town' but do not explain how this could occur." "The scheme embodies footway safety improvements as shown on the block plan which detail has been missed by the Town Council", Mr Putman added. Seven car parking spaces are proposed for the seven properties with visitors expected to be accommodated by nearby East Suffolk Council car parks.
