Hemsby Parish Council has agreed to apply for the Kings Head to be listed as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) – a legal status designed to recognise buildings that play a vital role in village life. If successful, the move would not prevent the pub from being sold or redeveloped. The Kings Head, on North Road, is a traditional village pub in a residential part of Hemsby, away from the bustle of the seafront. Th pub was previously registered by the parish council and the current ACV expires in February. Kerrie Wilton, Hemsby parish clerk, said: “It was identified in the Hemsby Neighbourhood Plan that it was an asset in the village that the participants of the village survey requested was protected from loss as a pub.”
