Eileen Smith from Glasgow has welcomed a recent parliamentary debate on aphasia, a complex language disorder that affects communication and often occurs after a stroke. “I write little notes and hand them over sometimes.”Eileen has found the support of Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, as well as her husband, to be vital in dealing with the condition. “Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland has been the perfect place for me to learn how to handle my communication difficulties. “I volunteer on a weekly walk with the charity, helping other stroke survivors.”She said: “Stroke is isolating and scary, and aphasia doubly so. Rona Mackay said: “It is my great pleasure to lead this debate in the Scottish Parliament.
