Superintendent Simon Osborne from the RSPCA said: "This is a difficult job which needs a resilient character but there are also many magical moments. "such as removing animals from a situation where they are suffering and seeing them heal, physically and mentally. The animal rescue officer (ARO) role sits within the RSPCA’s inspectorate and involves investigating reports of animal cruelty and neglect, as well as rescuing animals that are sick, injured, or stranded. Mr Osborne said: "We aspire for, and celebrate, a diverse RSPCA inspectorate; and our organisation aims to be a bastion for diversity and fairness. It is a physically demanding job that also requires emotional resilience, empathy, and strong communication skills to handle often distressing and confrontational situations.
