The proposal covers trails in Marquette County on land owned by Cleveland Cliffs, which has plans to put its property up for sale, said Sven Gonstead, county recreation specialist. The Marquette County Board of Commissioners recently gave the green light for county officials to move forward with the project, which will have no cost for taxpayers, Gonstead said. The proposed easement touches more than 300 miles of motorized and non-motorized trails that are part of an even larger network, Gonstead said. The next step is to map the trails to legally define the routes and location of the easement, Gonstead said.
