CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians designated hitter David Fry was carted off the field Tuesday after he was struck in the face by foul ball while trying to bunt a pitch from Tigers starter Tarik Skubal in the sixth inning. Fry had squared to bunt with a 2-1 count and two runners on base when Skubal’s 99.1 mph fastball rode up and in, glancing off the bat and striking Fry in the face. Fry missed Cleveland’s first 58 games while recovering from offseason Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, and has been limited to DH duties throughout the season.
