On 21 January 2026, Nottingham City Council secured a conviction for causing a noise nuisance against the company that operated Binks Yard and Cleaver and Wake until autumn 2025.
Island Quarter Canal Turn Operating Company was fined £8,000, with a further £1,200 in costs, for offences relating to excessive noise on several dates in June and August last year.
The Council served a noise abatement notice in 2023 in relation to music from the venue’s outdoor stage.
For over a year, Council officers worked with the company to help it comply with the notice.
However, the Council eventually lost confidence that sufficient steps were being taken to prevent further nuisance and gathered evidence that led to this conviction.
