Holocaust Memorial Day is always a profoundly poignant and solemn occasion, but this year it felt especially dark. A Jewish friend got in touch to say that he and his wife, both in their sixties, are moving to Israel in May. One of their three adult children lives there already, and another is seriously thinking of leaving the UK.
