The Red Wings and Blackhawks opened the preseason. The skilled left wing impressed during Detroit Red Wings training camp and Sunday’s Red & White game, and he was the best player on the ice Tuesday in his NHL preseason debut. Carter Mazur and Nate Danielson also scored for the Red Wings and Sebastian Cossa made 15 saves while playing the entire game. Danielson then put the Red Wings back ahead 2-1 by deflecting in a point shot by William Wallinder. The Red Wings host the Buffalo Sabres Thursday in their next preseason game (7 p.m., livestreamed on DetroitRedWings.com).
