Article contentReading good literature is meant to broaden a student’s perspective and that is certainly not a good idea. Nor is it a good idea to extend their experience of language. The book titles culled and destroyed from school libraries could have offered truth, a sense of justice, empathy and understanding and we certainly wouldn’t want to influence our students with anything like that. Let’s keep our students ignorant of the experiences and ideas of others. Let’s not give our students that opportunity.
