Bank Windhoek is the first financial institution in Namibia to start enabling its Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) to accept cash deposits of the new Namibia Dollar banknotes introduced by the central bank last year. Bank Windhoek is leading the pack by becoming the first commercial bank whose ATMs now accept the new banknotes. The novel 60 dollar note is not yet compliant with the upgraded ATMs. While punted by the central bank as a security requirement for circulating cash, the introduction of the new notes seemingly happened without consultation.
