Tipperary County council engineers have taken action to resolve flooding at Greenane on the R661 Road that links Tipperary town to Dundrum. The council has been implementing a road safety measure at the location in recent months by removing trees and vegetation to improve sightlines at the bend. Crews yesterday excavated a new drain to alleviate flooding on the road and to lower the water level within the existing dyke. This work was immediately effective in removing the flood water from the road surface. The Council now intends to install new drainage pipes once ground conditions improve sufficiently.
