President Cyril Ramaphosa has accepted the interim report of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, as the investigation into alleged criminal infiltration of South Africa’s law-enforcement agencies continues to expose troubling claims at senior levels. The Commission, chaired by retired Constitutional Court Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, submitted its interim report to the President on 17 December 2025. Ramaphosa has accepted the report’s recommendations, including referrals for immediate criminal investigations, possible prosecutions and disciplinary action against implicated individuals. The Madlanga Commission was established by President Ramaphosa in July 2025 following explosive public allegations by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. Since then, the Commission has heard testimony from dozens of witnesses, including senior police officials, politicians, intelligence operatives and protected witnesses.
