Morocco’s police (DGSN) arrested a 38-year-old French national on Wednesday at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, following an international arrest warrant issued by Swiss judicial authorities, according to a security source. Police officers detained the suspect immediately upon his arrival on a flight from Nouakchott. After verifying the Interpol database, the police identified the individual as the subject of a “red notice” issued by Swiss authorities over his alleged involvement in extortion and threats using a firearm and violence. The suspect was remanded in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The Interpol Bureau in Rabat is responsible for notifying its Swiss counterpart of his detention before initiating extradition procedures.
