John Weldon, who later refused to give a blood sample after being taken to hospital, could remember nothing of the incident.
A sheriff said Weldon’s actions could have resulted in “catastrophic” consequences for other road users on what is a busy and fast stretch of the trunk road.
He admitted that on September 27 on the A985 eastbound near to Bluther Burn, High Valleyfield, he was in charge of a car when unfit to drive.
The court was told that police found Weldon’s car at 1.20am stopped on a bridge.
The sheriff told him: “You have no recollection at all.
