Putin’s meatgrinder forces advancing slower than ANY army in the past 100 years – including many drudging WW1 campaigns

PUTIN’S forces are advancing in Ukraine slower than any army in more than 100 years – including allied efforts at the notoriously drudging Battle of The Somme. These pitiful gains by the Russian army are slower than many drudging First World War campaigns, according to a report by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies. Despite two years of bloody battles, Russian forces have moved just six miles and have still not managed to take the Donetsk city. All three advances are slower than the Battle of the Somme, slower than Belleau Wood and slower than Gorizia, three notably drawn-out WW1 battles. In total, Russian forces are estimated to have taken 0.6 per cent of Ukrainian territory in 2024 and 0.8 per cent in 2025.
