The government has curbed plans for the mega £1.5 billion Ming Yang manufacturing base in Scotland. The paused plans were pinned to security fears, with The Times reporting a risk report from the security services was sought after from the government. The US, a recent hindrance to the offshore wind sector under the Trump Administration, had repeatedly warned the UK of national security risks attached to allowing Ming Yang to provide turbines for North Sea wind farms. Ming Yang eyed Port of Ardersier for the baseWhile the location for the site hadn’t been confirmed, the Port of Ardersier in the highlands had been considered the frontrunner, which could have provided 1,500 jobs. Elsewhere, Ming Yang signed a deal with Octopus Energy to potentially deliver up to 6GW of new capacity of wind power.
