Despite Meta’s revenue increasing by 22 percent in 2025 to $200.9 billion, it’s expenses also increased by 24 percent to $117.6 billion over the year. Meta’s expenses for the year were below projections it made at the end of the last financial year which is good news. Around the world there is increased scrutiny on the negative effects social media has on young people. As such, some countries are now dancing around the idea of implementing restrictions on access to social media for young people. Even South Africa’s government is considering a restriction on access to social media.
