GoldBod tightens noose on unlicensed refiners and jewellers
[]
The Herald ghana
The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has announced a nationwide compliance operation targeting jewellery manufacturers, gold fabricators and refineries operating without valid licences, warning that offenders will face prosecution under the law.
In a formal compliance notice dated January 28, 2026, GoldBod disclosed that it has received reports indicating that some players in the jewellery and gold processing sector are operating illegally without authorisation from the Board.
According to the notice, only duly licensed persons and companies are permitted to engage in gold trading, jewellery manufacturing, gold fabrication and gold refining in Ghana.
In a move that signals both enforcement and encouragement of compliance, GoldBod used the opportunity to publicly recognise companies that have successfully obtained the required licences to operate.
