Santander said the closures will be accompanied by alternative forms of face-to-face support, including Community Bankers operating from Santander Locals or Banking Hubs. A spokesperson for Santander UK said the changes were necessary to ensure the bank can support customers "however they choose to bank with us", whilst maintaining a balance between digital services and human interaction. It added that all branches set to close are within 1.4 miles of a Post Office and that vulnerable customers will be proactively contacted to help them with the transition.
