‌People living near Simonswood Industrial Estate (SIE) have told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) they have spent years “holding their nose” because of persistent smells likened to “rotten eggs” and sewage. Ms Midgley wrote on Facebook: "Throughout the last week constituents have been in touch about burning taking place on the Simonswood Industrial estate in the middle of the night. "Following constituents raising concerns, I got in touch with the Head of the Environment Agency and asked them to take immediate action. "I've been campaigning on it with our Labour councillors, but the response from the Environment Agency has been slow and ineffective. "The Environment Agency are taking action to prevent further dumping, and we're giving them more powers and resources to crack down on fly-tipping.
