Four years after it purchased the property, the Capital Region Airport Commission is set to position a sizeable site beside Richmond International Airport for development with an assist from the Henrico Economic Development Authority.
The commission is fielding an offer from the EDA to prep about 200 acres southeast of the airport as an economic development site.
The EDA would use a $1 million state grant to advance the site’s development readiness, according to a proposed agreement between the parties.
The EDA has been marketing the site for light and general industrial development under the property’s existing M-1C and M-2C zoning.
RIC spokesman Troy Bell said the airport would retain ownership of the Beulah Road property and lease it to a developer.
