Polish finance minister Andrzej Domanski was quoted as saying that that keeping the złoty as the national currency gives the economy greater flexibility at a time of global uncertainty, despite ongoing debates over deeper eurozone integration. Despite its strong economic performance, Poland remains cautious about joining the eurozone and Domanski argued that keeping the złoty provides economic flexibility in times of external shocks. Warsaw’s bid for the European Customs AgencyPoland is also positioning itself as a candidate to host the future European Customs Agency (EUCA), which is expected to play a key role in strengthening EU border controls and customs enforcement. He also highlighted Poland’s growing economic weight and argued that EU agencies should be more geographically balanced across member states. “In times of growing uncertainty, Europe needs one body with overall control of its customs borders,” the minister said.
