India has officially submitted the nomination dossier for Meghalaya’s iconic living root bridges, known locally as Jingkieng Jri, for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List for the 2026-27 cycle. The dossier was presented on Thursday, 29 January 2026, by India’s Ambassador to UNESCO, Vishal V. Sharma, to the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Paris.
