St. Bernard (16-11, 5-2) won its fourth consecutive league contest and avenged a 79-71 loss at St. Anthony. “The catalyst behind the change that we made was that we refocused our identity back to what we’re about and that’s playing defense,” St. Bernard coach Bernard McCrumby said. St. Anthony, though, cut an 18-point deficit entering the fourth quarter down to 64-53 thanks to a 13-0 run. While they all played in St. Bernard’s first meeting with St. Anthony three weeks ago, McCrumby said “they were just starting to get into” the flow.
