A community news title entirely run by volunteers is marking half a century of uninterrupted publication next month. C&B News was originally launched as Currie & Balerno News in February 1976 and has now expanded to cover five neighbouring communities in the south west of Edinburgh. Over 50 years it has evolved from a largely monochrome, text-heavy newspaper into a full-colour, picture-filled magazine. The paper’s chair Gail Rankin said: “Today, as always, C&B News aims to be a platform to display the rich talent, expertise, interests and achievements of local people. Added Paul: “Reporting and presenting what’s going on now locally was the original motivation for launching C&B News back in 1976.
