Statistics published on 3 June reveal the abandoned settlement has attracted over 1.8 million tourists across the last four years, reports the Express.
The district has evolved into a destination for dark tourism, drawing those fascinated by its legacy of mortality and catastrophe.
"Varosha is being used as a tourist destination, as a tourist attraction, without a single inhabitant prior to 1974 returning.
The committee scrutinised a report compiled by PACE rapporteur for Varosha Piero Fassino, who had toured the abandoned settlement in mid-May.
