"Even if a child or passenger opens the door, drivers can still find themselves dealing with fines, claims and insurance issues that follow." According to Rule 239 of the Highway Code, drivers should always utilise off-street parking areas or bays delineated with white lines on the road for parking, wherever feasible. The Highway Code mandates that drivers check for cyclists or other traffic by surveying their surroundings and using their mirrors.
