Shereen Thompson-Spurgeon, who runs Back-a-Yard Cuisine & Reenie’s Dumplings, had just finished her fifth year trading at Nottingham’s Goose Fair at the Forest Recreation Ground when the incident took place.
She said: “It was my fifth year at Goose Fair and I never had any issues.
“I always leave the generator in the exact same spot and I’ve always used the same company to hire them.
Ms Thompson-Spurgeon said: “This is a life-changing amount of debt for a small independent trader like me.
She said: “This incident has not put me off going to Goose Fair next year but I don’t think I will be hiring a generator again.
