EU Commission clears acquisition of NSR by Brookfield and GIC Realty

Brussels, 27 January 2026The European Commission has approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, the acquisition of joint control of National Storage REIT (‘NSR’) of Australia by Brookfield Corporation (‘Brookfield’) of Canada and GIC (Realty) Private Limited (‘GIC Realty’) of Singapore. The transaction relates primarily to the provision of self-storage in Australia and New Zealand. The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the limited impact on the European Economic Area. The notified transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
