2 members of Mexico’s Congress shot in Sinaloa state

Two members of Mexico’s lower house of Congress were injured in an armed attack in the northwestern state of Sinaloa, officials said.
Authorities said the lawmakers and the injured bodyguard were taken to hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Sinaloa Governor Ruben Rocha Moya said Torres Felix, a lawmaker with the Citizens’ Movement party, remains in serious condition and was undergoing surgery, while his colleague Montoya Ojeda is out of danger.
Article continues below the playerThe governor said the bodyguard, who was driving the vehicle carrying the lawmakers, was not seriously injured.
Sinaloa, particularly the city of Culiacan, has seen sustained cartel-related violence in recent years, including intensified conflict following the July 2024 capture of longtime Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada near El Paso, Texas.
